wonderful Wilby Wonderful
So I just went and saw Wilby Wonderful at my local cinema (nyah nyah nyah) and it's soooo good - yeah, I know I have the DVD but seeing it in a full cinema (and it was pretty much, enough that I didn't spot any conspicuous fangirls) is a totally different experience. All the funny bits seemed much funnier just because there were lots of other people laughing. We got a voting card after for an award in the Commonwealth Film Festival (which was why it was showing in the first place) and all the ones I craned to see were giving it 4 stars.
Random thoughts:
Paul Gross is a damn pretty guy, possibly even prettier when he's older and a little tired compared to in dS for some reason. I think possibly because he looked so much more touchable and he was doing these little smiles that were just great.
James Allodi has the most marvellous eyes and a really sweet smile, and he was all low key and understated and lovely to watch.
Sandra Oh cracks me up and then makes me all sad, which is a total compliment, and Rebecca Jenkins and Ellen Page were both just perfect.
And what about Mr Callum Keith Rennie, I hear you cry? Sex on legs, as usual. He has really nice arms (lets hear a big yay for overalls) and a sweet smile and his eyes are so pretty... And was it nice seeing all that on a big screen? Not half! He's the most gorgeous part of a gorgeous little film.

Lucky you, seeing it in the theater. It's supposed to be in my neck of the woods this summer at a film festival, and I think I'm really going to try to see it in the theater, cause I think it will be even more wonderful (no pun intended) that way.
Some others have said PG looks old in this, but I thought he looked really hot and approachable. I tend to have a soft spot for his less buttoned-up roles anyway.
Re CKR, I recently saw Last Night on DVD, and it seems like he's filled out in the shoulders in recent years. I thought he looked more 'yum, arms' in WW and in the BSG ep than in Last Night or in the dS ep Eclipse. Perhaps he's been doing more weights, lucky for us?
*Is it ok if I friend you? Anyone who loves HL and dS is peachy keen in my book. :)

I think that PG looking older is a good thing in this. Less buttoning is of the good in my book too (though I do dearly love Fraser.)
You are right about CKR's build, he does look a bit more scrawny in Eclipse. I haven't seen BSG yet, but someone just lent me the DVDs so I'll be watching it pretty soon (woo!) Though I'm still a little annoyed about the genderswitching they've done, I used to watch repeats of the original when I was about 10 and I thought Starbuck was fantastic. Actually, maybe that's a good thing that they aren't trying to be the same because they could never make it? Hmmm.
You should definitely see WW in a cinema if you can. It is a really different atmosphere to watching it on a smallscreen and I'm very glad I went.

Re HL:TS, I bought the videos back in the day, but I haven't seen the DVD version. There's supposed to be additional extras etc. HL was my first fandom, too, and I'll always have a soft spot for it. Did you see Endgame, and if so did you run away screaming? ;)

The much condensed version of my Endgame rant is below, but basically boils down to "it sucked". I liked the chemistry between AP and CL and that they included Joe and Methos. I think the fights were pretty darn good, particularly the one between Duncan and the gang and the set to with Donnie Yen. I even liked the backstory of Kell and Connor's past and the feud. However I hated (with the fiery passion of a thousand suns) most of the script, what they did to Connor's character (he's not the type to quit for fucks sake), what that by extension did to Duncan (the poor man killed yet another person he loved) and the stupid turnaround by the treacherous Faith from hating Duncan to liking him again with no motivation or reason. Most of all, I hated it for missing all the opportunities they had to make it good - AP and CL work great together but most of it they were apart, Methos and Joe are great characters played by people who know them backwards and inside out but were totally underused and the total nightmare of the resolution of what could have been a really interesting plot with Kell. Connor did not have to die, and to then present the possibility of Duncan and Faith as an up ending was pathetic - that was in no way earned by what we had seen of her character. Hmm, actually, that may have turned into the long version!
BSG 2003 was on here ages ago, but on Sky and I only have access to terrestrial TV. Hence the DVD borrowage. Looking forward to watching it...

Re the eurominutes, they were on the VHS tapes that came out a few years ago too. I think most of the cuts had to do with episode length - the standard length sans commercials of a show in North America is a few minutes shorter, I think?

Seems like continuity has gone out the window again...

Think when the exams are over I'm going to buy myself a region 1 DVD player and then order WW (and prob HCL cos I still haven't seen it) from Amazon ... what else is a student loan for anyway?!?!!?

Sadly don't think stupid lappytop is useful enough to play it ... am going to consult friends who are slightly more technically minded than me!

I came in when it was already quite full but I didn't notice a particular lack of females! I was the very short female in a red hooded top with a very tall skinny guy near the front... Not that I'm particularly memorable, so scratching your head and going "huh, don't remember her" is cool.
Did you fill in the voting card afterwards?
