Staples has a reading speed test you can take:

ereader test
Source: Staples eReader Department

According to this, I read 1036 words a minute and that makes me 314% faster at reading than the national average (for the US I take it since it seems to be the US site).

Now, I'll give them that I do read very fast. But I simply can't believe that I read 314% faster than average. The way they calculate it has got to be off.

I went by how long it took me to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows vs how long War and Peace is. Uhm. *shrugs* If I took out the potty and munchie breaks I took with HP TDH....it's pretty close.

I haven't read either of those, but my mental picture of the books makes them about the same length. They probably are right about the times, I just found the comparison chart bizarre - and I'd like to know where it came from, since they weren't asking in the test for educational background they obviously weren't generating it from their test.

I'd have to agree. Apparently I only read about the same as the average 11th grader. Umm, no. So many reasons that's so wrong :)
