I cannot stand her. She was about the worst thing in the last Christmas episode and I can just remember thinking "thank God she's not the new companion". Ah, the irony.

I think I'm leaning towards just shrugging and believing that RTD probably knows what he's doing. I remember being appalled at the idea of Billie Piper. And then at the idea of them getting rid of Billie Piper. So it might work out? Would rather have Martha though *sigh*

Really? I thought she had one really good moment in her very last scene in it, but apart from that I wanted the character to go away.

Though this may have something to do with the fact that I just do not like Catherine Tate. I'm hoping that they manage to give Donna some more attractive qualities than she displayed in the xmas special and that Tate will actually be able to convey that, and I think having a companion that will slap the Doctor down could be quite interesting.

Maybe they'll pull it off. I do hope so, I would like to think that this won't ruin my enjoyment of the series.

And it'll certainly be interesting to see how Martha gets on with Donna later on!

I wasn't appalled at Billie, because I'd seen her being good in other things, like The Canterbury Tales. But Tate just rubs me the wrong way and I'm not convinced she can play anything other than bolshy, agressive and strident.

I hope it does work out, I really really do. And I quite like the idea of a companion who'll give the Doctor a bit more attitude.

That's the one thing that I can see making this work for me. I am trying to reserve judgement until I see it, and if they can tone Donna down a bit and make her less shallow (and shriek less, please)... Eh. Oh well, I'll be intrigued to see how they handle it anyway.
