I've seen this floating around a bit lately so I guess that means it's time to look back again.

List of stories I've written in 2008:

Stargate: Atlantis:
A Brief Encounter (SGA/Torchwood crossover, Rodney/Jack, PG-13, prequel to A Holiday Humour)
Something New Under the Sky and the sequel Forms of Friendship (SGA/Buffy crossover, Teyla/Faith, PG)
The Finest Clothes Beneath (sequel to Naked Under These Clothes, John/Rodney, NC-17)

Torchwood:
Come On With the Rain (Jack/Ianto, PG)

Merlin:
First Night (tag to episode 1, gen)
The Worst Servant (drabble, gen)
And None But We Can Be Such Kings (Merlin/Arthur, R)
A Little Fire to Warm (Merlin/Arthur, PG-13)
Blue-eyed Death (drabble, gen, flashfic tag to episode 8)
Treason to Us (Merlin/Arthur, PG-13, flashfic)
Passing the Test (tag to episode 11, gen)
The Evil We Make (Nimueh, gen, flashfic)

and the rest of the meme )

Seems an unlikely mix, but [livejournal.com profile] hth_the_first has added Ronon, Rodney and sex and made it work in Ode.

And inspired me to reread one of the poems she references as it is very cool.

Prayer Before Birth - Louis MacNeice )
janne_d: (teylaleg)
A sequel to Something New Under the Sky. PG-13, slightly slashy (well, we are talking about Faith here), ~2480 words.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] torakowalski for beta duty.

"Hmm. That smile is worrying. Perhaps, before I gave away all my fighting secrets, I should have asked if you were evil?" Teyla said lightly and saw Faith's mouth twist into a sharp grin.

"Not anymore. You scared?" she asked

Forms of Friendship )

Can anyone remember if they ever define how much, if any, of Teyla's physical abilities come from her smidgen of Wraith genes or if it is all just the mental aspects?

I'm leaning towards her being a really kickass fighter and essentially unenhanced in that, but I don't know if that complies with canon or not - and it's something I kind of need to know for a fic. Fanon I will happily ignore to follow my own interpretation, but with canon I at least want to know what it says first!

Any ideas, oh most knowledgeable flist?

For the 100crossovers challenge again. A prequel to A Holiday Humour, slash, PG-13. Ta to [livejournal.com profile] torakowalski for the beta.

"Oh, very amusing" Rodney shot back sarcastically, "with lines like that surely it should be Captain Kirk, not Harkness,"

A Brief Encounter )
janne_d: (shepyieldfull)
First fic for my 100 Crossovers deal! Gen, ~2000 words. Betaed by the most excellent [livejournal.com profile] torakowalski

Summary: An unexpected encounter on Earth.

Teyla felt the back of her neck prickle with the sudden awareness that it was too still and a thread of unease seemed to work through the night around her

Something New Under the Sky )

I resolved to try and do more fic writing. This led, somewhat indirectly, to my signing up at [livejournal.com profile] crossovers100, with the idea of writing 100 crossovers of SGA with something else.

Yes, I probably have gone insane, why do you ask?

Anyway, this post is to put the prompt table somewhere nice and handy )

So there we are. Wish me luck.

I've done a bit more thinking about the planning of my ongoing girl!John WIP and actually managed to organise my notes into something resembling a running order and a three section plan.

The good:
1. I have completed the first of the three sections (I think) and started the second (the boundaries between them are pretty blurry, but that's currently how I'm thinking of it)
2. I have a pretty good idea of what is going to make up section 2, though the order isn't set in stone
3. I got some better ideas this week about how to do some of 2 and 3, which is cool

The bad:
1. Section 3 is a little sparse with plot ideas aside from the personal/emotional
2. On finishing section 1, it stands at approx. 49,500 words
3. This means I probably have at least that much to write again
4. This also means that it is likely to be the longest thing I have ever written, and I'm including my PhD thesis in that
5. This is very scary

But as a way to avoid actually working on the fic, it worked out really well... what, I can't procrastinate? But it's my major talent!

So A Dangerous Desire has been nominated *bounces*

This is very cool and whoever nominated me gets big virtual hugs.

I just hope I've managed to categorise myself properly!

In which Rodney gets things wrong. A lot. McKay/Sheppard, mild slashiness. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] torakowalski for sentence wrangling.

Misperception )

Posted to [livejournal.com profile] sga_genderfuck as part of the Grab Bag Challenge and inspired by the prompt I like to feel... pretty... under my uniform.

Find it here.

A Novel of Romance by a Lady

All Rodney McKay had thought he wanted was to be left alone with his theories and hypotheses. Being abducted and meeting the intriguing John Sheppard had put paid to that. Rodney understood his own desires rather better now, but society’s laws and conventions opposed him and Sheppard was surely far out of his reach. Not to mention the complication of his mysterious abductor…

A/N: My deepest gratitude to [livejournal.com profile] torakowalski for her invaluable assistance, enthusiasm and encouragement throughout. Inspired and influenced by Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, Bernard Cornwell, Colin Firth’s wet shirt, Matthew MacFadyen’s breeches and far too many Mills and Boon Regency Romances read as a teenager. Plot structure freely adapted from “Fair Juno” by Stephanie Laurens.
Caveat: Although research was perpetrated, no claims are made to historical accuracy. All mistakes are my own.
