a question for the Merlin fans

I seem to be feeling a slight surge of community-mindedness - possibly this will pass, but I thought I would surf the wave for a bit and see what happens.

Is there a flashfic community anywhere? Do you think the fandom could sustain one if there isn't one already?

Because I... kind of want to set one up. Not that I know how, or anything useful like that, and it's a mildly terrifying thought (like, what if you throw a party and nobody turns up?), but still.

Sucky idea? Too many challenge comms already? Speak to me, people, before I do something rash and impulsive.

I'm kind of surprised there isn't one already, but I couldn't see one when I went looking. I think I've been conditioned by previous fandoms - where's the newsletter? Right, found that, where's the flashfic comm?

Yeah, I worked that out - I forgot what the plus account meant when I clicked on it initially and then I couldn't seem to go back. So I gifted a paid thing to the comm instead. I think that the change won't show up until tomorrow though.

Cool! I see ads on it at the moment though - maybe they took a while to kick in. The gift page said it would take about 12 hours to go through.

I saw you joined - I went to find out how to add you as a maintainer (which I think I have now done) and there you were already! It was very exciting. Eeee! I haven't really played with any of the settings - I just left it pretty much on default so it's all yours if you want a go.

A layout sounds fabulous - I have no artistic talents at all, and I know you do.

I have ideas for general rules - pretty much lifted from other flashfic comms - I'll probably get around to setting them down tomorrow and email them to you.

I want one, if that helps. sga_flashfic is run like a dream and is a great doorway for new writers into fandom.

We're doing it. The comm exists at merlin_flashfic, I am coming up with (read 'borrowing madly') rules and thisissirius is doing something about a layout.

I don't know if we'll be able to be as dreamlike as sga_flashfic, mind. But when things are a little more organised, I would be very grateful for pimping!
