Woo, another gemini

Happy Birthday,
torakowalski! I'd like to promise you a birthday ficlet, but I've been absolutely knackered all week and inspiration has run dry. So you may receive an unbirthday fic at some random point in the future instead!
ETA: I just worked out that Ms Tora is 7 years younger than me *is depressed at own decrepitness and likelihood of starting to dribble into food*
And lo, the day of the concert dawned in a shower of rain, causing Janne to go "oh shite, I'm going to get drenched" for she had a standing ticket and (being somewhere slightly below 5 foot in height) a pressing need to get in a good position, thus necessitating many hours of queueing before entereing the large open-air stadium.
The mind-numbing tedium of the large line of people patiently waiting was slightly enlivened by the occasional passing by of young programme sellers, causing laughter with witty remarks such as "£15 a programme", eliciting much repartee along the lines of "yeah, right.". Much more enlivening was the ability to hear the band soundchecking at around 15.30, clearly audible due to the huge and extremely powerful speaker system, and giving the assembled multitude a taste of delights yet to come.
Much disappointment was felt by our intrepid adventurer on finally entering the stadium as the armbands needed to get into the area around the stage and walkway were already gone. However, slight stature proved to be advantageous whem it came to wriggling between large people towards the front and ultimately resulted in a position just the other side of the security barrier, with a metre of clear space where noone could block the view. "Jolly good," quoth our hero.
Then the sun came out, and there was much rejoicing. And the support acts did begin, and there was further rejoicing because then the concert was actually underway (plus they were quite good).
After a time, the support bands finished, and just as the collective anticipation became nearly unbearable, U2 arrived on stage and stormed into Vertigo, supported by a chorus of 50,000. This was immediatly followed by the kick-in-the-head of I Will Follow and an extended pogoing session. The only way was up from then on, with a set list of:
Vertigo
I Will Follow
Cry / Electric Co.
Elevation
New Year’s Day
Beautiful Day
City of Blinding Lights
Miracle Drug
Sometimes You Can’t Make it On Your Own
Love and Peace
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet The Blue Sky
Running to Standstill
Pride in the Name of Love
Where the Streets Have No Name
One
break
Zoo Station
The Fly
Mysterious Ways
With or Without You
break
All Because of You
Yahweh
Vertigo
We worshipped at their feet and were mesmerised and hypnotised by the performing power. To quote one male attendee, he "isn't gay, but Bono is a very sexy man" and there wouldn't have been a single person in that 50,000 who would have disagreed, or failed to feel the same about the whole band. For sheer blinding intensity, the section from Love and Peace to Running to Stand Still stands out, finishing as it did with a scroll up the screen of the UN's human rights articles and a cheer for each one. Being immediately followed with the loudest singalong of the night in Pride didn't hurt either.
The first encore borrowed the intro of the Zooropa tour, down to Bono's actions and was much appreciated, and another highlight in the second encore was Yahweh, surprising your correspondent somewhat as it was not a favourite from the album. Finally, the energy boost of a Vertigo reprise spilled us back out into real life, babbling of the legends we had seen.
Oh my giddy aunt, it was good.
