Doctor Who 5.07 and Doctor/Companion musings

Was anyone else thinking that her answer to the question of who she chose should be "Um, both?"

General episode thingies:
- loved the Dream Lord and his costume changes
- intriguing that the Doctor feels that much self-hatred on some level
- and interesting that to get out of the dreams, they all had to die; not sure what that says about the Doctor's psyche but it's a spin on 'everybody lives!' that's for sure (everybody dies... so everybody lives)
- loved Amy's statement that if they had to die they would do it as a Peruvian folk band in the ponchos
- the birdsong to fall asleep was nicely creepy but the episode could have done with a bit more creep factor for me; not quite enough menace in there

And now back to the choice Amy's given.

The thing is, aside from Jack who is a category all to himself and whose shipability with everyone is almost his raison d'etre, I've never been able to see the Doctor and a companion as having a non-platonic relationship. I actively disliked the idea of Rose/the Doctor, wasn't interested in Martha/the Doctor and liked Donna and the Doctor's friendship far too much to consider them being anything else. And I really didn't think I would see anything different in Amy and Eleven...

...right up until Rory got more involved. And now I want interesting, complicated threesomeness and polyamory all over the shop.

Which is a little bizarre since you would think with the Jack factor that Jack/Rose/the Doctor would have pinged that button but it never did.

But I like the Amy/Doctor dynamic and the Amy/Rory dynamic and the Doctor/Rory dynamic is making me happy too because I really like Rory and I think the Doctor likes him as well.

So as far as I am concerned, when the Dream Lord asked Amy whether she would choose the Doctor or Rory, her answer should have been "And I can't have both because...?"



And now I want fic, damn it. Anyone know of any Doctor/Amy/Rory?

I completely agree! I've never had an OT3 in Who before, but I really do love the three of them together in this episode.

But as far as I can tell, there's no fic yet. Come on, fandom!! ::paws weakly::

I've never had an OT3 at all before - but Rory is so cute and Amy is so fabulous and the Doctor is awesome and I want them all to snuggle up and be happy together!

Someone must be out there writing it, surely? I mean, we can't be the only ones going 'oooh' over the possibility... *joins you in pawing and adds puppy eyes*
