apparently
Dec. 3rd, 2005 10:40 pmthere is this meme going around of
So here goes, 10 random things about me you may or may not already know and in no particular order:
1. I have a thing about food starting with "a". I don't like almonds, or avocado, or aubergine, or artichoke, or anchovies. (Apples are good though, they're my exception)
2. I really like reading slash. Sometimes I write it, but it's never as good as it is in my head.
3. I am a fandom whore. Fandoms I have devoured in the past and present include: Highlander, due South, BtVS, The Professionals, From Eroica with Love, X-Files, Once a Thief, LA Confidential (hard to find, that one), Shanghai Noon (I know, but goddammit they were cute), Lord of the Rings, PotC, Harry Potter, Smallville, The OC (Ryan got to me for a while), X-Men, The Magnificent 7, Star Trek: Enterprise, Firefly, Stargate SG1, and (deep breath) my current true love, Stargate Atlantis.
4. I'm tiny. Like, 4'11" tall and 40kg of mass. Makes finding trousers that don't drag along the ground a real bitch.
5. One of the recurring themes in my dreams is werewolves. I don't know what this means and I don't really want to. They usually chase me, but I'm never that scared and none of them have killed me yet.
6. I do Chen Style Tai Chi. It's the original form of tai chi that the others developed from and is about the only one that is still actually done as the lethal martial art it really is. Seriously, a third of the moves seem to involve grabbing someone by the balls and twisting... not so cute as you all were thinking, huh?
7. I am a scientist. I pretty much always want to know "why" and "how" when something interests me.
8. I also really love poetry. Not all of it obviously, just the good stuff *grins*. Current favourite is "and death shall have no dominion" by Dylan Thomas.
9. Lord of the Rings, collectively, are my favourite film ever. There has never been such a good book adaptation and the casting was as close to perfection as it is possible to get.
10. Bad science and alternative mumbo-jumbo really pisses me off. Homeopathists should be banned until the efficacy of their remedies has been proved in properly conducted clinical trials, astrologists and fortune tellers should be given a good shaking and not allowed to talk to anyone without first admitting that they are just spin doctors and people who propose that intelligent design be taught as science rather than faith should stick their heads three times in a bucket of water and take them out twice. Ahem. *kicks away soap box sheepishly*
All righty, I'm done.

Date: 2005-12-04 04:42 pm (UTC)It's just I feel more than a little dead lately, I don't have any which Ray to snuggle here in the afterlife.

Date: 2005-12-04 05:25 pm (UTC)I caught the Who!fic, that was pretty cool. Do you think random SGA genderfuck porn would cheer you any? Because that is what I'm writing and I don't have any Who bunnies. Or dead bunnies. (Dead bunnies, ew.)
As always, I prescribe a course of porn. It's good for what ails you.

Date: 2005-12-04 06:20 pm (UTC)It would help if I had more than a cursorary (okay, I've overdone the r's) understanding of SGA.
There was nothing wrong with that sentence, I am the un-living enbodiement of death!fic.

Date: 2005-12-04 09:27 pm (UTC)It's actually quite amazing how much of the important plotlines you can pick up on just from fanfic - it can be a little skewed but the facts are usually there.

Date: 2005-12-04 04:29 pm (UTC)Thanks for the compliment, I appreciated your appreciation *g* But it is still true that I rarely think the descriptions I manage live up to the images I have in my head. Eh, c'est la vie.
On the subject of images in my head, fancy taking a look at the incredibly porny girl!John/Ronon ficlet that got me through some long train journeys recently? (For some reason, rail travel produces porn in my mind). It's not finished yet and I don't know if I'll post it anywhere except here, what with everyone and their dog doing girl!John at the mo (I seemed to get the idea about the same time as everyone else did, annoyingly. Along with an mpreg scenario and an Atlantis-connection-with-sex thing, sigh. They were original at the time, I just didn't do anything with them fast enough.)
Anyway, I'm about half done I think.

Date: 2005-12-04 05:59 pm (UTC)I've never liked gender!fuck of mPreg in any other fandom, but I keep finding myself enjoying them when they pop up in SGA (and I'm kind of, maybe, sort of, writing my own mPreg *looks ashamed*)
