OMFG Star Trek 2009!
May. 16th, 2009 12:35 amJust got back from seeing it and I am so gleeful it is ridiculous. It's been ages since I came out of a film feeling actually buzzed but I did tonight. I loved every minute of that, and I loved the little nods to previous installments (Admiral Archer's beagle! Captain Pike!) and it was just SO MUCH FUN I HAVE TO USE CAPITALS!
And the utterly, mind-bogglingly amazingly cool reboot concept they use...
It's a canon AU. They went for it and they didn't take it back at the end and it rocks. We're in a brand new Trek universe and the view is mighty fine!

And I loved cute little Chekov and Sulu with his expandable katana that he just happens to always carry on his space suit just in case he needs to have mad space swordfights with people... and Uhura pretty much rocked in my opinion too.
Simon Pegg's Scottish accent didn't entirely convince but then neither did the original's and he had some great lines.
