I am moving house today and the new place doesn't have internet set up yet so it may be a while before I'm around again either here or by email. Don't break anything while I'm gone, okay? (And if people could write more Amy/Doctor/Rory that would be nice too.)

Catch you later.

OMG! OMG!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!

I hope you had a wonderful day! *hugs you*

Go to your icons page in Livejournal and look at the first two icons (the one on the right and the one on the left). Pair up the characters in the two icons. Go to the next two and do the same until you have a list of ships. Then...well, write 'em.

Or, alternatively, marvel at the crack that is the 32 ships below the cut: )

Some are admittedly rather intriguing...

I think that may have been the most unexpected Doctor Who episode I've seen - in a good way. I certainly can't recall any others that required the BBC to flag up a helpline at the end...

further spoilery thoughts within )

Why am I suddenly seeing my friends page in sets of 10 entries instead of 25 like usual? That is annoying. How do I change it back?
janne_d: (elevenmadman)
Amy's Choice, hmm? )

And now I want fic, damn it. Anyone know of any Doctor/Amy/Rory?
janne_d: (eleventilt)
My housemate's nephew was just here and guess what he had in his bag of toys? A Weeping Angels mask! One of the feral faces, brr. And all I could think was - remember that kids game where everyone creeps up on someone whose back is turned and freezes when they turn around? How disturbing would that be if all of the kids were wearing those masks?!
janne_d: (amyquirk)
like this much *holds arms out* I mean, Matt Smith as the Doctor is very fine and I really like him, but I have the most ridiculous crush on Amy now.

Doctor Who 5.05 - spoilers )

From [livejournal.com profile] selenak: Pick 15 of your ships and write down a quote for each of them. Let your f-list guess. Looking them up on IMDb or Google is cheating.

Couldn't quite make 15 romantic ships so there's one or two friendships I really like instead.

2 days ago:
- Windows security pops up, announces increasingly frightening things about trojans on my PC and then runs away beacuse I'm not registered
- McAfee finds 30 trojan things on quick scan and nothing more on full scan

1 day ago:
- McAfee pops up to say I need to update
- McAfee security centre goes 'choose what program you want to use to open this file with' instead of opening
- so do Windows Explorer, all other antimalware programs and a bunch of other stuff
- various other things (like the system info and power options via control panel) start claiming they don't exist
- I have minor heart failure and panic

Today:
- I go searching for the phrases on google and discover this happens to people all the bloody time when antivirus software gets rid of trojans
- I find several very complicated fixes that involve fiddling with the system registry
- I find 'install this file' to fix for XP on MalwareBytes forum
- it fixes it, hoorah!
- I wonder why the hell the antivirus programs don't mention this can happen and provide fixits as a matter of course...

OMG, OMG, that sucked.

I am now rushing off to buy a large backup device and copy lots of things I don't want to lose to it. (Paranoia is our friend.)

If you saw my previous post, you'll know that I'm having AO3 problems. As in I can't get to the AO3 by any route for the life of me. Digging through my emails, I found there is a way to inform them of issues and problems at (you can see where this is going right?) http://archiveofourown.org/support. Which I cannot access. (The irony! *sobs*)

So please, please, pretty please could some kind soul out there who is able to get to the archive let them know I have been shut out in the dark and cold like the little matchgirl?

The details are:
- my username there is the same as my lj
- I use IE8
- I have been unable to see any webpage at the archive for a minimum of 3 days, though I first had this issue on 03/04/10 (I know because I was trying to follow a link to a fic I requested at a finders comm)
- I'm not sure now if I've managed to read anything at AO3 in between then and now
- what happens when I try and go to AO3 is the http changes to the address of whatever AO3 page I'm trying to access, the browser window goes blank and the bottom of the screen says '1 item remaining' etc. And that is all that happens (I have left it up to an hour with no change)
- my browser then goes all a bit weird and stops responding and I have to close it down (usually through task manager)

It is just so frustrating! There is a Fraser/Kowalski crossdressing fic there that I need to read and that is apparently the only place it exists! And a Johnny Weir/Adam Lambert fic! You see where my desperation comes from?!? *tears hair*

HELP ME before the lack of ficcy goodness drives me insane!

ETA the lovely [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa is my saviour. Everyone else can put the lightsabers down and stop practicing their Alec Guinness impression (unless you just want to spend your Saturday being a jedi, in which case carry on)

Is it just me, or does anyone else have problems when you try and open a link to AO3 in a new tab? Because it seems that every time I try to do that, it crashes my browser and it is really pigging annoying!

ETA make that 'try to get to AO3' at all, not just through a link.

'Toad' by Norman MacCaig )

Check out [livejournal.com profile] selenak's Merlin Episode Guide. As the writer asserts "every episode description is entirely accurate! From, as Obi-Wan Kenobi would say, a certain point of view". Entirely accurate and totally hilarious, what more could you want?

From [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa: when you see this, post a poem in your journal.

Concerto for Double Bass

He is a drunk leaning companionably
Around a lamp post or doing up
With intermittent concentration
Another drunk's coat.

He is a polite but devoted Valentino,
Cheek to cheek, forgetting the next step.
He is feeling the pulse of the fat lady
Or cutting her in half.

But close your eyes and it is sunset
At the edge of the world. It is the language
Of dolphins, the growth of tree-roots,
The heart-beat slowing down.

-- John Fuller
